Here is a setup on the Blizzard default raid frames. It isn't pretty but it works.

First I turned on Interface -> RaidFrames -> "Keep Groups Together"
It uses a different frame name if you do not. While you are there make your frames wider, and a little taller. ( you can adjust this later to fit all your buttons)

Now open /xub click on unit frames, and under custom raid frames type in "CompactRaidGroup@Member#" (no quotes) (I have 18 button size, i had to change it in the LUA file)

This will get buttons on your frames. Of course Blizz did a great job starting usable raid frames, but still left us wanting, so......
Since we can not separate the frames at all, in order to put buttons next to them, we must put buttons on TOP of the frame.

Just position your first button some where on the frame. With a "bottom left" anchor I use 0,-125. So my config looks kinda like this...
[CUSTOM BUTTONS]
_CleanseSpirit,debuffblink,Cleanse Spirit,,Magic/Curse
[GROUP]
gHeal1,SB_GreaterHealingWave,*
gHeal1,SB_HealingWave,*
gHeal1,SB_HealingSurge,*
gHeal1,SB_ChainHeal,*

gHeal2,_NSHW,*
gHeal2,_CleanseSpirit,*
gHeal2,SB_Riptide,*

[PROFILE]
n,raid,gHeal1,0,-125
n,raid,CR
n,raid,gHeal2
n,raid,gES

You notice I use _CleanseSpirit, this is so we can use debuffblink, which will make that button blink when a Curse or Magic debuff is present. We have to use this since our xubs cover up the buffs/debuffs on our frames.

Make the frame big enough to hold your buttons, and a little extra space to easily see the health.
